They are looking for couples who want to get married in 2011 and would like to get married in the very first LIVE episode of Don't tell the Bride where they will get married on the same day as Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29th- The Royal Wedding.

This weekend we were at the Liverpool wedding show which was held in the Grand Marquee in Knowsley Safari Park. We met lots of lovely excited brides and gave some of our cakes their debut outing.

Spiralling snowflakes

This cake was one of our many over Christmas/New year and such an unusual cake.

Iced alternatively in deep red and white and trimmed with deep red double satin ribbon. Each tier was then adorned with hundreds of tiny handmade sugar snowflakes which spiralled around.

The tiny snowflakes were also a large part of the bride and grooms wedding stationery which is where we got the inspiration for this lovely cake.

New years weddings

During the lovely Christmas break we were here working away on beautiful wintry cakes for brides and Grooms who were married on New Years day.
This cake was inspired by Jane and Simon's invitations. Trimmed with Bridal white and Navy double satin ribbon, and embellished with diamantes, we think this cake looked as wintry as we felt whilst making it!

Sparkly sugar roses

Iced in white and trimmed with Bridal white double satin ribbon, this lovely, sparkly cake was a gem adorned with beautiful handmade sugar roses for a wedding at Thornton Hall.
Looking great on the outside is only one part and with an inside of Chocolate Baileys cake with Chocolate Baileys truffle cream and French Vanilla cake with Champagne and strawberry preserve, we had to stop ourselves from eating it all up!

Christmas Cupcakes

We had a lovely day at The Olive Tree in Brimstage on Friday teaching three lovely ladies how to decorate their Christmas cupcakes. These are a few of their cupcakes at the end of the day. We were so impressed with such a Fantastic job from all of them! I certainly hope our jobs are safe!

Ever since we were asked to make this cake earlier in the year, we have looked forward to it. Kelly and Craig wanted a simple design with dark ivory ribbon wrapped around each tier sprinkled with diamantes. The end result was more than we expected.

The twists of ribbon with occasional diamante matched the stationery from Dragonfly couture stationery. The flowers were from Earth and included a beautiful phalaenopsis orchid table decoration which finished the look.

We were so inspired that a similar cake will be appearing in our showroom very soon...

Daisy Hill at Knowsley Hall

Last Sunday Daisy Hill was delighted to exhibit at the fantastic Knowsley Hall where we took a selection of our cakes and chatted to many excited brides and grooms.

Knowsley specialises in fairytale weddings and the view from our stand was a beautiful fairytale winter wonderland.

This breathtaking table display was made by Earth flowers and we think this theme would look amazing in the coming winter months. With candles in glass cases hanging from the branches of these snow covered trees, a lovely glow warmed the winter picture and left us longing for Christmas by a roaring fire...

Roses Sparkling Romance

Anouska asked us to create a very romantic cake that fitted in with every aspect of their special day. Our brief was simple, a romantic sparkling centrepiece that could be served to their 150 guests as dessert. Fresh roses separated each tier which were accented with handmade sugar butterflies, intricate royal iced piping and sparkling crystals. What a stunner! What a feast! Claire and Tony's wedding at The Leverhulme Hotel was stylish, glamorous and elegant. We love the unusual arrangement of this cake - a square base and 3 round tiers adds a twist to the vintage feel of the design. Finished with gorgeous handmade sugar rosebuds, a pearl trim and fresh dusky pink roses, this cake complemented the romantic theme of Laura and Mark's reception. The French Vanilla Cake with Champagne, Strawberry and Buttercream was a perfect accompaniment to the Bacon Butties served in the evening - yum!

Vera Wang Inspiration

When we were contacted by Karen from Australia regarding a cake design for her UK wedding on May 15th, it became apparent that we wouldn't have the opportunity to meet face to face before the big day! After a couple of emails, we decided to use the design of her fabulous Vera Wang dress as the inspiration for the cake making 'knots' out of icing which we then pearlised (we're hoping to get hold of a clearer image when the official pics are ready!). You will see from the image that a 4-tier cake is a whopper! This is because each tier is at least 4" deep by the time we have filled the cakes to the brim with Chocolate Baileys Truffle, Cointreau Orange Cream, Champagne Strawberry and Buttercream etc - yum!

When Stuart and Jane contacted us from New York requesting contemporary cupcakes customised with their initials for their UK wedding at Thornton Manor (www.thorntonmanor.com), we rose to the challenge and created scrummy chocolate cakes with pale pink vanilla buttercream and individual icing discs embossed with 'S' and 'J', displayed on a 7-tier tower, topped with a fruit cutting cake (a nod to tradition!). Winter Wedding in Portmeirion

Portmeirion is a magical place, built as a folly of an Italian fishing village yet situated on the Welsh coast. It's a perfect setting for a wedding - small, intimate and full of character. Chocolate Boxes

At Daisy Hill Cake Company, we like to think of ourselves as wedding veterans - after all, we work on hundreds of weddings all over the country every year! However Nicky and Mark's special day at Stanley House was in a completely different league when it came to flowers - hundreds upon hundreds of the most sumptuous grand prix roses we have ever seen! It was no surprise to find that Earth were responsible for the amazing display including a heart made entirely of roses to dress the room for the civil ceremony.
We completed the look with a 7-tier tower of individual chocolate boxes tied with deep red ribbon and finished with a swaroski crystal. We understand the display had all the guests mouths watering. Diamante Lace Cake

The Diamante Lace Cake is one of Daisy Hill Cake Company's favourites - probably because it is one of the most challenging! Creating the finest delicate lace panels from icing is tricky and time consuming (but so worth it!) and the cake has to be set up and decorated on site - not for the faint hearted! But each time we have created this cake, the results (and feedback from happy couples!) has been amazing. The Diamante Lace Cake took centre stage at a late summer marquee wedding (complete with steel band which created such a party atmosphere!) and worked fabulously with Sarah's gorgeous lace dress. We are also delighted that the cake is featured in the January 09 issue of Cosmopolitan Bride.

Pennyhill Park Winter Wedding

A Country House Wedding

One of the (many!) perks of our job is travelling around the country to deliver and set up wedding cakes in the most amazing venues! Our first wedding at Hipping Hall was no disappointment - a gorgeous stone country house, nestling in the Lake District. The intimate setting was a perfect backdrop for a custom tower of 100 cupcakes (half chocolate aphrodisiac cakes, half very lemony lemon cakes, topped with a chocolate top tier cutting cake finished with gold ribbon) dressed with beautiful fresh roses. Georgina and Daniel's Bonfire Night wedding was divine. Dozens of deep red grand prix roses, candles and crystals. We used the pattern on Georgina's dress as inspiration for the cake, accenting the icing with their monogram. Grand Prix roses separated each tier, with peals and diamantes finishing the table. Tuesday December 2nd saw the prestigious Radio City and City Talk’s Local Heroes Awards 2008 in The Royal Court. With the region’s star celebrities and a host of real life super Heroes turning out in force the event was a true celebration of the people that make Merseyside, North Wales and the North West great.

Eleven awards were handed out to deserving winners throughout the evening, celebrating people who have touched the lives of those around them, either through their generosity, selflessness, talent, sheer bravery or entrepeneurial spirit.

Daisy Hill Cake Company was delighted to be a finalist in the Business Person of the Year category alongside David M Robinson Jewellers and the winner, James Barton who founded the Cream empire pictured collecting his award. Thanks for nominating us!

Emma and Paul's wedding last weekend at Albrighton Hall in Shrewsbury was fabulous! They were married in a tiny church opposite the hotel and the reception was themed around Emma's beautiful bouquet of candy pink aqua roses. The centrepiece was a tower of individual French Vanilla Cupcakes with Champagne, Strawberry and Buttercream and Very Lemony Lemon Cakes with Lemon Curd and Lemon Cream - finished with a Boozy Fruit Cake top tier. Each cake was decorated with handmade sugar butterflies dusted with edible glitter. A dozen fresh aqua roses and petals completed the look - gorgeous!

We have had several inquiries recently for glamourous, elegant cakes to act as a centrepiece at venues with incredibly high ceilings. What better than our Cascading Orchid Flowers cake which stands at over 3.5ft high and is just divinely graceful! Whilst pillars have suffered from a dated image in the past, the double tiers and glittery handmade sugar flowers make this cake up to the minute gorgeous - and ensure it holds its own against any backdrop!

We just loved this cake! Oozing moody glamour and divine with fresh grand prix roses, dark cala lilies and fresh berries - so autumnal. Far too often the dressing of the cake table is overlooked - we always take crystals and/or pearls and an extra length of ribbon for the cake knife - and ask the bride to consider some fresh rose petals and tealights to really set the scene! Collette's wedding at Hillbark was a gorgeous, romantic affair. White chair covers tied with candy coloured sashes, vintage pink roses, and candelbras draped with strings of pearls. The tower of glittery cupcakes completed the look - the French Vanilla Cupcakes with Champagne, Strawberry and Buttercream were a big hit with guests! Chloe and Ed's Wedding

When we first met with Ed and Chloe, they were completely unsure of what kind of cake to go for but knew they wanted something personal to them, and striking with a minimum of flowers and fuss! We eventually decided on a simple 4-tier stacked cake (Carrot Cake with Orange and Cointreau Cream - delicious!), trimmed in soft ivory satin ribbon overlaid with gorgeous sage green ribbon decorated with the lyrics of their favourite song which were even more relevant given the downpour on their big day! Mhairi and Thom's wedding at Inglewood Manor last month was stunning. They chose a crisp, white backdrop, gorgeous mocca bridesmaids dresses and soft pastel roses . Their cake was decorated with royal iced motifs and looked gorgeous set on a vintage silver cake stand finished with clusters of fresh flowers and rose petals. We are often asked by brides to create an original centrepiece that can be served as dessert. For Victoria and Mark’s wedding at Thornton Manor, we made delicious ‘choux pastry swans’ which fitted perfectly with the elegant theme of the big day.

The ‘swans’ were displayed on a 7-tier stand, dusted with edible glitter for a bit of sparkle and finished with fresh vintage pink roses – delicious!
