Joanne and Simon

Joanne and Simon wanted a simple elegant cake that could be served as dessert. We came up with a tantalising recipe of Chocolate Baileys cake covered with White Chocolate ganache. Finished with fresh flowers, the end result was divine decadence. Thank you once again to Andrew John for such amazing shots and thank you to Earth for such vibrant flowers.

Roses Sparkling Romance

Anouska asked us to create a very romantic cake that fitted in with every aspect of their special day. Our brief was simple, a romantic sparkling centrepiece that could be served to their 150 guests as dessert. Fresh roses separated each tier which were accented with handmade sugar butterflies, intricate royal iced piping and sparkling crystals. What a stunner! What a feast! Thanks to Earth for the gorgeous roses and to Andrew John for the great photographs.

Applique wedding Cake

This cake was a really unusual design that we created for a fabulous Autumn wedding.

Jacqui's stunning dress was the inspiration for the intricate applique designs that adorn every side of this beauty.

Matt and Jacqui were such a joy to work with. And thanks to Lisa Aldersley for her wonderful photographs as usual!

Apple Cake

Last month, Abigail and Sean married in true fairytale style in the fabulous venue of Peckforton Castle. Abigail's dress was a gorgeous custom Hollywood Dreams creation - so stunning we've included some pics for you to enjoy. A subtle apple theme ran throughout the wedding - roses, lanterns, ivy and apples decorating the red carpet leading up the aisle, toffee apples as favours for the men, crab apples in Abigail's bouquet - and of course the Apple Cake (with tiers of Spiced Caramel Apple Cake and Boozy Fruit Cake - yum!!). Simply beautiful! Abigail runs her own wedding planning business, so if you would like to benefit from her style and wedding expertise, she can be contacted via Abigail@bentleybrides.co.uk or 07775730579. Thanks for the photos Abigail! xx

Butterflies and Roses

Mel and Paul's wedding at Hillbark last month was FABULOUS!! Here is a picture of the gorgeously vintage cake we created for them - 4 tiers of delicate sugar rosebuds and butterflies dusted with edible glitter. Displaying it on a pedestal and antique glass cake stand really added to the impact. To see more pictures of their special day, check out the images taken by one of our favourite photographers, Lisa Aldersley.

Art Deco Classy Cake

Claire and Tony's wedding at The Leverhulme Hotel was stylish, glamorous and elegant. The black and white theme of the big day complemented the art deco feel of the venue, and The Classy Cake worked fabulously finished with black double satin ribbon. We baked four different flavours including a gluten free tier and set the cake up in the entrance to the venue - Claire sent us this lovely shot taken by one of her friends. Thanks Claire! xx

Vintage Rosebuds

We love the unusual arrangement of this cake - a square base and 3 round tiers adds a twist to the vintage feel of the design. Finished with gorgeous handmade sugar rosebuds, a pearl trim and fresh dusky pink roses, this cake complemented the romantic theme of Laura and Mark's reception. The French Vanilla Cake with Champagne, Strawberry and Buttercream was a perfect accompaniment to the Bacon Butties served in the evening - yum!

Daisy Hill Cake Co - on a pedestal!

We were really surprised to see how many hits our website was receiving from the US - until we discovered we have been featured on an american based wedding planning website! The article discusses the use of pedestal cake stands - which we simply adore for showing off our cakes to the max! There's no need to spend a fortune on a new stand for your cake - ask your granny, your auntie, your future mother-in-law etc to raid their cupboards, we can almost guarantee at least one of them will have a great cake stand stashed away and will love the opportunity to put one to good use!

Classy Cake in Brides Magazine

We are thrilled with the picture of our Classy Cake in the 'Winter Glamour' feature of July/August Conde Nast 'Brides' magazine. The design is so versatile and also looks stunning in hot fuschia pink, deep gold, royal blue, forest green....the list goes on!

Vera Wang Inspiration

When we were contacted by Karen from Australia regarding a cake design for her UK wedding on May 15th, it became apparent that we wouldn't have the opportunity to meet face to face before the big day! After a couple of emails, we decided to use the design of her fabulous Vera Wang dress as the inspiration for the cake making 'knots' out of icing which we then pearlised (we're hoping to get hold of a clearer image when the official pics are ready!). You will see from the image that a 4-tier cake is a whopper! This is because each tier is at least 4" deep by the time we have filled the cakes to the brim with Chocolate Baileys Truffle, Cointreau Orange Cream, Champagne Strawberry and Buttercream etc - yum!

Daisy Hill Cake Co goes Continental!

We were delighted to be contacted by the editor of German Cosmopolitan who wanted to feature our Classy Cake in a feature on all things bling - now we're pondering how to deliver to Germany!

Lesley and Mak's gorgeous day

Lesley and Mak celebrated their marriage in style! A beautiful traditional church ceremony followed by a wedding breakfast with a Hindu ceremony and a sumptuous indian feast and party in the evening. We've included a couple of their wedding photos along with a pic of their delicous White Chocolate Ganache Cake which was simply finished with fresh flowers. I hope you enjoy their photos, I want to see more too! Thanks to Lisa Aldersley whose photography never ceases to impress!

We've been so busy!

Since wedding season madness kicked in at the beginning of April, we have been working flat out to make, bake, create and deliver dozens of gorgeous wedding cakes all over the country. And our blog has been seriously neglected! To make amends, here are some photos taken in our showroom by Mary and Greg of Ashford Daly Photography. Their work is stunning so a visit to their website is a must.

Customised Cupcakes

When Stuart and Jane contacted us from New York requesting contemporary cupcakes customised with their initials for their UK wedding at Thornton Manor (www.thorntonmanor.com), we rose to the challenge and created scrummy chocolate cakes with pale pink vanilla buttercream and individual icing discs embossed with 'S' and 'J', displayed on a 7-tier tower, topped with a fruit cutting cake (a nod to tradition!). We love this look - modern, personal and delicious! Thanks once again to Neil Kendall for such lovely pics.

6 Tiers of Elegance

We love this picture of Philippa and Matt's cake - a true white wedding. It was a challenge setting this cake up - marquee floors are notoriously wobbly! The cake was served late on in the evening - a perfect accompaniment to a hog roast and chocolate fountain - yum! Thanks again to Neil Kendall for the photo.

Rachel and Mark's wedding cake

We loved working with Rachel and Mark - such a happy couple! We were delighted to follow their brief for a 'suitcase cake' - and so pleased they loved the results! 'We had the most amazing day filled with lots of fun, colour and laughter. It was made even better by the awesome cake, thank you for your inspiation and guidance. We have had so many comments including 'best wedding cake ever, thanks again!' Thanks for the photo Rachel and Mark, and please come and see us next time you are up from London x

Chocolate Velvet Cake with White Chocolate Ganache

We've just perfected a new recipe for Chocolate Velvet Cake with White Chocolate Ganache - it's delicious! And it's the perfect filling for our White Chocolate Shard Cake which is stunningly simple finished with a fresh hot pink orchid. The cake design also works fabulously using either milk or dark chocolate, dressed with roses - almost too good to eat! Thanks to Neil Kendall for this gorgeous picture, taken at Laura and Raj's wedding last year.

Winter Wedding in Portmeirion

Portmeirion is a magical place, built as a folly of an Italian fishing village yet situated on the Welsh coast. It's a perfect setting for a wedding - small, intimate and full of character. Rachael had fallen in love with Daisy Hill Cake Company's Classy Cake but wanted to tie in a wintery element and her soft ivory colour scheme. After hours of painstaking work (thanks Jen!) on hundreds of the finest tiny snowflakes, we were delighted with the finished results! Thank you once again to Andrew John for yet another beautiful photo.

Chocolate Boxes

At Daisy Hill Cake Company, we like to think of ourselves as wedding veterans - after all, we work on hundreds of weddings all over the country every year! However Nicky and Mark's special day at Stanley House was in a completely different league when it came to flowers - hundreds upon hundreds of the most sumptuous grand prix roses we have ever seen! It was no surprise to find that Earth were responsible for the amazing display including a heart made entirely of roses to dress the room for the civil ceremony.
We completed the look with a 7-tier tower of individual chocolate boxes tied with deep red ribbon and finished with a swaroski crystal. We understand the display had all the guests mouths watering. Have a look at the gorgeous picture supplied by Andrew John. He is an amazingly talented photographer and recipient of many well deserved accolades. Thanks Andrew!

Cake Dilemma

Back in the summer, Claire was in a dilemma about which cake to choose - she loved the drama of one of our pillared designs, the sparkle of the Scattered Diamante Cake and the glam of the Classy Cake. The solution? Simple - combine elements of all three cakes to create a stunning centrepiece that complemented the crystal embellishments on Claire's gorgeous dress. The reception took place at Knowsley Hall which recently featured on Hollyoaks.....!

Diamante Lace Cake

The Diamante Lace Cake is one of Daisy Hill Cake Company's favourites - probably because it is one of the most challenging! Creating the finest delicate lace panels from icing is tricky and time consuming (but so worth it!) and the cake has to be set up and decorated on site - not for the faint hearted! But each time we have created this cake, the results (and feedback from happy couples!) has been amazing. The Diamante Lace Cake took centre stage at a late summer marquee wedding (complete with steel band which created such a party atmosphere!) and worked fabulously with Sarah's gorgeous lace dress. We are also delighted that the cake is featured in the January 09 issue of Cosmopolitan Bride.

Petal Cake in Brides Magazine

We love the challenge of creating brand new cake designs for Brides Magazine, and the Petal Cake featured in the January/February 2009 issue was no exception. We made over 700 individual cream sugar petals and finished the tumbling tower with half a dozen individual complete sugar flowers in pale pink dusted with edible glitter for extra sparkle! Check out the Brides magazine website for more wedding inspiration.

Enchanted Woodland Wedding at Home House

We were so excited when Verity asked us to create a centrepiece cake for her wedding reception with an 'enchanted woodland' theme at one of London's most exclusive private members clubs - Home House. Deep rich reds, burgundies and dusky pinks with accents of creams and whites were the order of the day! Verity's florist, Detta Phillips had designed a stunning floral theme for the big day - we were more than happy to leave our cake in her capable hands and are thrilled with the result!

Wedding Cake and Hot Chocolate - A Highland Fling!

Vanessa and Tim's wedding at Wedderburn Castle was a weekend house party with wow! The dramatic backdrop of the castle (flooded with deep red light for extra effect) worked fabulously with their rich cream and red colour scheme. We were worked with Vanessa to create a 5-tier tower cake and cookie medley for guests to enjoy in the library with cups of hot chocolate at the end of the reception. The wedding is featured in the new issue of Bride Magazines and Vanessa said 'Daisy Hill Cake Company excelled in creating 5 tiers of deliciousness. All our suppliers were amazing and I wouldn't hesitate recommending them to anyone wanting perfection'. Thanks Vanessa and Tim!

Pennyhill Park Winter Wedding

Robert and Sanaz's wedding at Pennyhill Park in Surrey took our breath away! Scented candles and a rich carpet of fresh rose petals lined the aisle and the reception was adorned with masses of beautiful white roses, twinkling lights and more fresh rose petals. We really enjoyed working with their florist, Russell from Blomster Designs in Cobham to create this stunning, colourful take on our Ruffle Roses cake which featured in one of last years 'Brides' magazine. Thanks for the picture Sanaz and Rob! xx
